From first message to finished job.

Whether it's the roof, gutters or chimney, or plastering, tiling, carpentry and decorating inside, here's what to expect when you get in touch and what we'll need from you along the way.

Tell us what needs doing

Call, message or use the contact form. Include the property address, what the job is and a few photos if you can: the roof, gutters or chimney from the ground, or the wall, ceiling or room that needs work. Photos let us quote many jobs without a visit.

Get a written quote

Gutter clearing and roof moss removal can usually be quoted from your photos. Roof repairs, chimney work, plastering, tiling, carpentry and decorating usually get a short visit first, so we can measure up and the price is right. Either way the quote is free, in writing, and there's no obligation.

We do the work

We agree a date, turn up when we said we would, do the work and clear up after ourselves. Waste and debris are bagged and taken away. Payment is usually due on completion, by bank transfer or cash. On bigger jobs we may ask for 25% up front.

What helps us quote quickly

The more we know up front, the faster and more accurate the quote. None of this is essential, but it all helps.

  • The property address and postcode
  • A description of what's wrong, or what you'd like done
  • Photos of the roof, gutters or chimney from the ground, or of the walls, ceilings and rooms for inside work
  • For tiling and decorating: rough room sizes, and any tiles or colours you've already chosen
  • For carpentry: how many doors or how much skirting, and the style you have in mind
  • Any deadline, such as a tenancy start or a house sale
  • Access notes: parking, gates, tenants, keys

Outside jobs: roofing, gutters and chimneys

You don't need to be home for outside work. We'll need access to the garden or driveway for ladders, and if it's a rental we can arrange that with the tenant or agent directly. Debris is bagged and taken away, and we'll cover anything below that might catch what comes down.

Outside work is weather dependent. If it's too wet, icy or windy to be on a roof or ladder safely, we'll rebook rather than rush it. You'll hear from us before the appointment, not after.

Inside jobs: plastering, tiling, carpentry and decorating

For inside work we'll need access to the property, so either you or someone you trust will need to be there, or we'll arrange keys with you. We protect floors and furniture, keep the work area tidy and clear up when we finish.

Plaster needs time to dry before it's painted or tiled, and skirting and doors are usually fitted before the final coat of paint, so we'll agree the order of work with you and tell you how long to allow. For tiling, carpentry and decorating we'll go through the layout, tiles, door and skirting styles, colours and finish with you before we start.

More than one job? One team, one quote

Jobs often overlap: a roof repair that leads to a re-skim, a new bathroom that needs tiling, new doors and painting, or gutters cleared while we're already up there for chimney work. Tell us everything you're thinking of and we'll quote it together, in a sensible order, with one team and one point of contact.

Every job finishes with a quick walk-round, or before-and-after photos if you're not on site. If anything isn't right, tell us and we'll come back.

For landlords and agents

If you manage more than one property, we can set up a simple standing arrangement: you send jobs as they come in, we quote and complete them, and you get one invoice with photos at the end of the month. Annual gutter clears and roof checks can be scheduled across the portfolio so problems are caught before tenants report them, and between tenancies we can patch and skim walls, refit doors and skirting, redecorate and re-tile so the property is ready to let.
